I cannot believe people would even care, but Pat Smear is married with a daughter and David Grohl is on his second marriage with three girls by his wife Jordan. I would suggest the doubters watch the Foo Fighters documentary back and forth, put out in 2011, at the time they were finishing up Wasting Light. Taylor Hawkins shows up with his wife and children, Pat Smear is sitting on the sofa with his wife and holding his daughter on his lap, and anyone who follows the Foo Fighters has seen Dave on stage with his oldest daughter Violet as a Foo Fighters background singer. Also at "Notes and Words" in 2018, a benefit for the UC San Francisco Medical Center Children's Hospital, Dave plays guitar while his daughter Violet sings a song by Adele and he does a song with his older daughter singing and his middle daughter playing the drum. Yes, I was there. (go to about 1:20 on Back and Forth to see the families or go to a Foo Fighters concert and see all the kids on the stage.
So that that people still hold the stereotypes that a man who is a little more effeminate is gay. Gay men come from very effeminate to very macho, as do straight men, but bottom line is why people even care. The Foo's make great music and David/Pat are the foundation of their sound with Taylor, Chris, and Nate enhancing it in a strong supporting role.
Those luck enough to attend California Jam in October 2018, of which I was one, were treated to an amazing set list by the Foos, followed by Dave, Pat, and Kris reuniting with John McAuley and Joan Jett each singing lead on three songs from Nirvana. It is not truly Nirvana without Kurt, but they did him justice and the instrumentals gave me goose bumps. I am sure Kurt was smiling in heaven seeing the remaining three members of the band finally releasing their demons and doing their first festival/large crowd reunion.
